ANNA’S BIO (THE LONG VERSION)

Anna Park was born in South Korea and grew up near the water in Busan, where the steady rhythm of the sea quietly shaped her early sense of reflection and movement. When her family later moved to the United States, Anna carried with her a deep love of culture, language, and the feeling of home that can exist across places.

Music became her first language of expression. Anna attended Juilliard Pre-College as a pianist, where she trained in classical music and learned the discipline of rhythm, repetition, and practice. Though she did not ultimately pursue music professionally, the idea of rhythm never left her. Today, she finds that same rhythm in everyday family life — in routines, in storytelling, and in the small repetitions that help children grow.

Before becoming a children’s author, Anna worked as an educator, where she became deeply interested in how confidence and independence are cultivated over time. She believes children thrive when they are given clear rhythms, meaningful responsibility, and patient guidance. Rather than relying on pressure or perfection, she focuses on small, consistent practices that build competence naturally.

This philosophy shapes both her stories and her educational work. Through her books and parent-focused learning tools, Anna supports families in creating calm structure, nurturing resilience, and encouraging independence in everyday life.

Her early reader series featuring Nabi Park explores perseverance, identity, and confidence through meaningful childhood milestones. Her picture book, The Mouse Who Drank the Sea, continues her exploration of courage and imagination.

Anna is an advocate for culturally grounded children’s literature that feels both specific and universal. She believes that when children see their food, language, traditions, and family rhythms reflected in books, they feel seen — and when other children read those stories, empathy grows naturally.

Now living in New York City, Anna draws daily inspiration from the energy and diversity of downtown Manhattan. She loves her neighborhood in the Seaport, where the presence of the water reminds her of Busan and connects her past to her present. She finds inspiration in the city’s global flavors, its creative pulse, and in the simple joy of walking along the waterfront with her family.

Anna lives in New York City with her husband and their daughter, who remains her greatest teacher and creative inspiration. Together, they love traveling, exploring foods from around the world, and discovering the small rhythms that make a place feel like home.
